ABOUT THE BOOK

PETKANA is the novel about the most respected and the dearest saint in Orthodox Christianity, about venerable Mother Petka. About Her love for God and her way for reaching Him. About all difficulties of her wandering. About the fights with the master of human weakness . And with her self. In the beautiful world of medieval Constantinople and the desert on the other side of Jordan.
What she was like and how it  was to her, once  God appointed her as his favorite, how her relics were removed from Constantinople to Trnovo, and further, through Vidin and Krusevac, to Belgrade, and again from Belgrade, she and those who  knew her are telling us about.
PETKANA is a novel about the faith. About a seeking for God, since He arrived in the land of Judah, He who came to teach us about  love and forgiveness, and up today.
PETKANA is both exciting and moving story of a contemporary woman, born in the second half of the twentieth century, who was learned that the story about God  was a lie, but  she felt differently. Saint appeared in her dream, so she recognized and loved Her,  just in time to be able, with Her help, to understood and survive  hers greatest misfortune.
What is faith? Is it just acceptance of the existence of God? Or life in accordance with the Ten Commandments? Do we turn to God more when we are happy or when we are unhappy? What is more temptation for the soul – being in welfare or loss and fall?
For all these and many other issues that plague the human soul and mind for centuries, the characters of novel PETKANA are searching for answers, which are both heroes and victims of exciting historical drama that changed the world.

REVIEWS – ABSTRACTS

I read novel PETKANA without a break. By this novel, Ljiljana  has brought hers heart and mind to St. Petka and to Jesus Christ  as a gift, as a fragrance of  a blossom lily.

(His Eminence Amfilohije, Metropolitan of Montenegro and Littoral )

Mrs. Ljiljana Habjanovic Djurovic presents an icon woven from chosen words of Venerable Mother Petka in front of us. Translated on a beautiful Romanian language by dr. Ljubica Rajkic, who is also appreciated and famous writer herself, the book gathers pictures from the life of Saint Petka and most carefully puts them in the bright frame of one exquisite literary work. One can also notice that the author intertwines the warmth of her own birthplace, on one side, with her own faith and national spirit, on the other. Her language includes ge
